GETTING THERE

Virgin Gorda can be reached easily from either the US or Europe in a number of ways.

Arriving from the US: Check major carriers for direct flights to either San Juan, Puerto Rico or St. Thomas USVI. From there you can connect to Virgin Gorda or Tortola through CapeAir or through Air Sunshine. If the Virgin Gorda airport is not accepting flights at the time of your booking, simply fly into Beef Island in Tortola; a ferry connection would take you on to Virgin Gorda (20 min).

Alternatively, you can charter a flight that will fly you directly to Virgin Gorda airport from San Juan or St. Thomas. As there are no waits for connection times when you charter, in many cases you could be enjoying lunch in Virgin Gorda on the day you fly. Flights from St. Thomas are 15 minutes, and flights from San Juan are 40 minutes. For charter information, you can contact Island Birds at www.islandbirds.com.

Arriving from Europe: British Airways and Virgin Atlantic fly from London, UK to Antigua directly. From there, you can connect via Liat direct to Beef Island Tortola and then take a ferry. You can also charter flights as mentioned above. Flight time to Virgin Gorda via charter is 1 hour and 10 min. From France, you can get direct flights to St. Maarten via Air France. Iberia and Lufthansa have direct flights to San Juan. See “arriving from US” for travel options from San Juan to Virgin Gorda. CHILDREN
Amateras was built in and around the natural boulders yielding some dramatic drop-offs throughout the property. There are no fences that can prevent children from wandering around the boulders. As a result, Amateras adheres to a policy that does not allow for children under the age of 12.

Our housekeeper, Thelma, has been with us since we built the house. She is always looking to earn some extra money, and I am sure would be happy to look after your children should you want some adult time. Simply ask her when you see her.

ACTIVITIES
There is as much or as little activity as one would like on Virgin Gorda: snorkeling, sailing, deep sea fishing, scuba diving, tennis, hiking, day trips to other island — or simply reading a book by the pool or on a secluded beach. The Island offers several excellent restaurants including those at the five-star resorts. Spa services can be booked at any one of the hotels including the awarding winning Little Dix Bay. The House Manager will be happy to assist you in making arrangements for any activity you have in mind.

BOOKING
When booking Amateras, we give you the option of booking directly through VRBO, or booking directly with us. If you book directly, we will offer a 5% discount. Our availability calendar can be viewed on the VRBO site.
